About
Looking for a quiet place to research, read, or study? Well... Bati's Book Bar isn't exactly quiet, but it does boast a plethora of good books, great company, and most importantly a variety of snacks, drinks, and drugs medicines to boost your studies. Come browse the shelves, settle into a comfortable place by the fire, or sit on the loft with the more social "scholars" to discuss...scholarly things. If you come at the right time you may even get to hear someone's unique poetry, one of Oronir's iconic lore dumps, or some or Bati's original writing.Bati's Book Bar is intended to specifically be a roleplaying experience, so please keep that in mind when you visit. Whether you're new to RP or a veteran, we ask that you read our rules below to be sure that you're helping to keep this venue an immersive RP environment.
Rules
Bati's Book Bar is a SFW, LGBTQIA+ friendly RP venue. Because of this, we ask that you:
Keep weapons and minions put away (unless they are directly relevant to your RP). Either way, keep weapons sheathed.
No spamming emotes, spells, or skills in the venue.
Keep OOC chat to a minimum using (parentheses) to indicate it is OOC. If you don't intend to do RP and are just there to relax, please keep your OOC conversations to tells and/or party chat.
Keep any NSFW conversations, actions, and/or ERP on the premises to party chat and/or tells.
Ask the staff before playing live music on your instruments inside the venue.
Keep any fighting or overly dramatic behavior out of say chat. We understand that disagreements, arguments, and drunkenness' are sometimes a part of RP, but please keep in mind that your drama may make others uncomfortable or ruin their experience.
Do not harass staff or other patrons IC or OOC. No toxicity will be tolerated. Keep in mind that players are not their characters. We are here to have fun, make friends, and create stories together, don't ruin it.
General Etiquette for All Role Players:
Put on an RP tag by typing /roleplaying in your chat box. This indicates that you are open to speaking with others and don't mind being approached!
Keep minions put away unless they are directly related to your rp character/story.
Unless they are directly related to RP, hide weapons. Even if your character carries their weapon, do not draw it, use magic/weapon skills, etc. in the venue.
Please conduct your role-playing conversations in say chat as opposed to party or tells. This provides others opportunities to join in and makes the RP experience much more interesting for everyone!
Use party chat and tells for content that is NSFW or OOC (out of character). If you want to say something OOC to the room, be sure to put it in parentheses!
Be patient and take turns talking. Use shorter 1-2 sentence posts to give others the opportunity to reply. People need thinking time to write quality responses! Give them the time they need for better quality RP!
If you're going to use emotes a lot... open your emotes tab and on the bottom right, make sure that little "Display log message" check box is unchecked.
RP Typing Tips for Beginners:
Use quotes around dialogue and enhance your writing by describing actions your character makes, expressions they show, etc. Ex: "Aye, t'as been a might long time since I seen ye." He said as he lifted his mug from the bar and downed half of it in one swig.
Start a line of text with /em to begin a sentence with your character's name. Great for 'creating' emotes or actions! Ex: /em sat up in his chair abruptly and locked eyes with Oronir. "You're late." >> Bati Oshidari sat up in his chair abruptly and locked eyes with Oronir. "You're late."
Want to put a character's name in your text without having to type it? Make sure you're targeting them, then type <t> in place of their name in your text! Ex: /em raised his eyebrows and chuckled at <t>. "So fire me." >> Oronir Kagon raised his eyebrows and chuckled at Bati Oshidari. "So fire me."
Have a line of text that is too long to fit? At the end of the first block of text, indicate you'll be continuing with a (cont) or a (1/2) or even (>>). Then simply continue your text in a second post. Ex: Lots of text...lot's of typing and I'm in the middle of >>
You don't have to have your character backstory and plan fully developed to engage in RP. Just hop in and you'll likely discover what you want to write about as you go! Buy someone a drink and ask them about their story and then listen and reply. Good RP comes from making connections with others!

Staff
Introducing the people who help run the place.
Bati Oshidari

Bati is the owner of Bati's Book Bar. If you ask him why he opened a book bar, he'll roll his eyes and mutter something about his sister, but he rarely gives a straight answer. He's a bossy sort more than scholarly, but he has a sort of refined charm about him. Clearly a narcissist, Bati can come off as a bit intimidating and closed off, but behind those scales he's really a big softy. Though he runs the place, don't expect to see Bati doing much work at the venue, that's what Oronir his staff is for. This is just for fun, after all. His real job is serving as the Chief of Staff (aka Butler) for one of Famfrit's esteemed free companies.
Oronir Kagon

Oronir was a wanderer prior to the Bar. Having left a violent history in the Steppe behind, he would go from place to place, learning many different trades, cultures, and methods of war. Among those topics were fishing, alchemy, the culinary arts, and mixology. While he will often be found helping Bati maintain the establishment, Oronir will occasionally return to the field if there is something that the Bar would like added to their shelves.
Luana Macedo

Luana has seen much and more in her lifetime, coming to take care of the bar is only one of the many self-imposed obligations she has. She can come off as aloof at times, but most often wears a gentle expression, ready to assist and welcome any who may come across. She loves to write and read, to share her passions and to meet faces new and old, unless you find yourself target of her flirting anyway. While she is qualified to work behind the bar, Bati has kept her mostly to the task of taking care of the venue's library, probably at Oronir's behest.
K'luca Tia

K'luca is still getting used to life outside of his tribe, but he's recently started to find his footing. After discovering his love for the culinary arts, he took on a job with the Culinarian's guild and started to build his craft. He runs the kitchen at Bati's Book Bar during daylight hours when it is less busy, but may be seen on occasion during the more popular evening hours. He's incredibly shy and a bit awkward, but he tries his best to come out of his shell when he's approached.
Kol Hyskaris

Kol lived most of his life in the Golmore Jungle, but left the tribe life to live in Kugane. This viera keeps himself busy with teaching dance classes both in Kugane and Ul'dah, and he does event planning and interior decorating on the side. Kol's role at the Book Bar is mostly seasonal - redecorating, helping with book organization when large donations come in, or designing and running events for Bati. On rare occasion Kol will appear at the venue during opening hours to help Oronir run the place.
